Suđurađ 54
20223 Island Of Šipan
Croatia
The history of the island of Šipan stretches far into the past. The island and its people flourished most at the time of the Dubrovnik Republic, acting as summer residence for the landowners of the time.
The island belongs to the Elaphite or Deer archipelago (Greek elaphos – deer), and the town connected with the Sagroević, Stjepović, Krivonosović and Skočibuha families is named Suđurađ (after St George). Here, on the very water front, is a little gallery with a large range affording many opportunities, choices of pictures and objects d’art of all times.
Unlike the Zagreb showroom, here we can offer you a large selection of prints by Croatian artists related to the sea, to landscape and history.
Along with the prints of Đuro Pulitika, Mladen Veža, Mersad Berber, Dimitrije Popović, Ivan Lacković, Izvor Oreb and others we also present for your approval classic landscape motifs with a contemporary slant and the personal viewpoints of Tihomir Lončar, Željko Lapuh and Josip Škerlj. There is also the special vision of Dubrovnik as city in the work of Krešimir Nikšić, the illustrative play of Nikolina Ivezić and the classic approach to painting as in the idiom of Vlado Jakelić.
It was our intention in opening this gallery on the island to shift the sales of artworks and antiques away from the centre somewhat and to restore to Šipan that glory it deserves: along with superlative olive oil, always fresh fish, a glass of home produced wine, history and landscape, we enable you, art lovers, the ability to buy pictures and lasting mementoes.
